Escape Before Dawn Empty Escape Before Dawn

Bronzeville is a large city separated into two parts. On one side, it’s all big. Enormous buildings with enormous companies, rich homes filled with rich people. On the other side, it’s opposite. Connected to Old Bronze, the older part of Bronzeville, which was partially torn down by a large fire, this cheaper part is made up of the remaining buildings and homes. In these homes are the Old Bronze people. Citizens that have lived there all their lives, and refuse, or can not afford to live in the newer part. The one problem of living in Bronzeville is the crime.
And against the crime, is the Dawn team. A group of girls set to bring back justice to the Old Bronze. They hide within the nightly shadows and pounce with defense. One would call this pure heart of gold, but one wouldn’t know the dangers that spin around.

EPISODE ONE

A long, spinning cobble road was speckled with pale cherry blossoms. They scattered the cracked stones, which had grass growing from them, along with a few spare stones.
Immediately, the fallen cherry blossom pedals were flattened against the road by a large group of feet speeding across the road. Small feet, big feet, round feet, narrow feet. Occasional bags swinging around other people’s ankles, and occasional sights of bike wheels.
It was a new day in Bronzeville. A new day for children and adults. Finally, the freedom is rested in the parent’s hands, no more worrying about taking care of their children. And dreadfully, the prison has taken the children into it’s cages once again. It’s a new school semester.
Eventually the large group of feet faded to reveal the flattened, stepped-on blossom pedals. They were totally destroyed, ripped, squashed to the floor. Some had disappeared into the cracks.
Faded laughter drifted from the background, and a new group of feet appeared. This time, it was a smaller group of about five girls. Each one had matching old shoes that were slightly worn on the toes, but had the obvious uniform look to them. Two girls were wearing their socks pulled to the knees, while another one had short socks, one had long socks pulled over her ankles, and another one wore leg warmers.
Each girl had their own special look despite the similar boring uniforms with pleated skirts that tumbed to their mid-thighs, and the baggy vests and sweaters lazily pulled over their white blouses.
One girl, with a boyish short hair cut that was bright red, had clearly just cracked a rather loud joke, since the other girls burst out laughing while clutching their stomachs.
“Oh, Karen, you’re a horror.” Muttered a short girl with long, thick blond wavy hair that was pulled into a low ponytail, sighed after laughing. “If one of the teachers heard you…”
They all fell into pits of laughter once again. Karen flashed one of her mischievous signature smiles at the short girl, and responded with a simple: “Oh no, you’re the horror, Thalia.”
Thalia opened her mouth to retort, but the tallest girl, who had uneven dark-brown layered hair that fell to the bottom of her neck cried out. “You guys, it’s five past eight, we’re late!”
And so they all ran through the cobble-street road, laughing and crying out trying to arrive on time to their class.

Innocence. Such a wonderful, sweet thing. If only it didn’t have to be so easy to loose.

Escape Before Dawn Empty Re: Escape Before Dawn

Eventually, they all entered the huge doors of the towering high school. Actually, they weren’t huge doors. There was only one door, and it entered into a one-story building that seemed big enough to fit a few classes. Just a few. The large hall had rows of lockers on each side with a few doors that lead to other classrooms. Tons of older kids wearing similar uniforms as the five girls swarms like marching ants. In fact, the colors matched the theme. Red, black and occasional dark gray spun around like a deformed flag swaying in the wind.
The shortest girl, who had shoulder-length, choppy black hair that stopped at random places on her head stared at the flock that pushed their way through to their classes. Even though she was in her second year at high school, she could never get used to the way everyone shoved his or her way around.
“Erin. Stop standing around, let’s go.” Groaned the final of them all, a tall girl with honey brown hair that was pulled into a really high pony-tail, as she pulled at her arm. “The others have already gone to their classes.” And so the two of them dashed off laughing and dodging under and around the other students.
The strangest thing, the one strange thing about all these girls is, they all had a separate strand of hair that tumbled differently than the rest of their hair- almost like a gang mark.

The day dragged on for quite a while, and eventually they all got out of the school with no homework except for them to get school supplies.
Wonderful breezes carried beautiful red leaves and cherry blossoms, a mix of fire and candy, along with the sweet perfumes of the bakery in the town square across the street of the high school. Many people were resting in the weed-infested grass.
“Hey, girls, let’s all go for some pastries!” Karen yelled out. She began to unbutton her vest that was draped over her blouse shirt.
Erin grinned as she ran her fingers through her straight bangs that fell to her eyebrows. She was trying to even them out. “It’s a nice idea,”
And so, the girls journeyed across the road in their old, slightly baggy uniforms, with their bags slung over their shoulders and backs. A sweep of wind ran through the trees causing a cloud of bright red and orange leaves to fly off and spin around to settled down on the cracked road. In that simple cloud, the five girls had disappeared off into the square. Only if one paid close attention would they have thought this strange.

The girls arrived at the town hall, and each stood at the gate chewing on some raisin scones. It was a rather small, old building. In fact, it was actually the oldest house that was still standing, and they turned it into the town hall since nobody really liked old houses that smelled of moldy wood and was almost falling apart.
Heck, it was marked Town Hall AND a dangerous site. The only thing holding it up was the ugly concrete bricks piled over each other to keep the sides from tumbling over.
And, on the black, steel gates were hung the papers of typical papers demanding questions like, “HAVE YOU SEEN THIS MAN?” or “SPOTTED IN YOUR AREA”. And the five girls were standing around there, observing the papers like any other person who wanted to keep up with his or her town’s news would.
And the specific paper they were observing was one of a bald man who looked in his middle-twenties. He had a scar on the side of his head, and was wearing a baseball cap and dark red sunglasses. The top of his shirt was- well, shirtless. The picture was slightly blurred, as if taken in motion or frozen from a video camera. It named the crimes of what he had done below the physical description.
“Four kidnappings, all of them women around his age, and one of them is older. Apparently, the most recent kidnapping occurred ten days ago. Meaning he can’t be far.” Read Karen. She was twisting the long strand of hair that fell around her face.
“He’s going to kidnap someone else tonight.” Stated Erin. She lifted her hand up, and began counting the dates.
“Yeah, tonight. See, it’s a pattern. The first person kidnapped was on August eleventh, at one PM. Second was August twenty-first, at four PM. Third was September first, at seven PM, and the final was September eleventh, at ten PM.” She calculated.
“I’m sorry, but WHAT?” demanded the tallest, whose name has naught been mentioned yet.
“Oh, Annette,” Eric said whilst grinning. Ann wrinkled her nose. She never really liked her name.
“It’s all math. Every date’s second digit is a one, plus ten. The times are each three hours later. Today is September twenty-first, the first day of school, meaning he will be kidnapping tonight, at one PM.”
“And how do you know this? I mean, what if it’s not true? Simply a coincidence?”
“Oh, it’s not a coincidence. Because, his main two numbers used are one and three. One for the second digit in the days of the month, three for the number of hours he separated. Put them together, and it makes thirteen. One AM would be simply a one in the morning, but if you compare it to the other times, which are PM, then it would be PM too, and in a twenty-four hour clock, it would be 13 o’clock.”
They all stared at Erin. She made no s
ense. She never did.

Escape Before Dawn Empty Re: Escape Before Dawn

Post  LaBohemien Tue Sep 22, 2009 12:48 am

That night, the black sky glittered with faraway stars. They stretched on until they disappeared behind the hills, or large buildings on the newer section of Bronzeville. There was no moon. In the hazy light of the lamp, there stood a tall woman with her handbag and a rather thick envelope. Her hair was short and gelled back to keep stray hairs out of her face. Next to her, holding her hand tightly, was a smaller version of her. She was rather young with the visible child flab in the forearms, and the slightly rounded body.
The lamp flickered a few times. It went on, off. On, then off again. It stayed dark for a few moments.
“Mama, it’s so dark…” yawned the small kid, and she rubbed her eye with the hand not holding her mom’s hand. A teddy-bear’s arm was gripped by the girl’s fingers as she brushed the sleep out of her wide eyes.
“The light’ll come back on in a mo- o- o-“ Immediately, a blood-curdling (seriously, blood-curdling) scream erupted in the air. It bounced off the walls of the houses, erupted along the streets, and could be heard through the entire town. Yes, that’s how loud it was.
“Mama?! Mama! MAMA! Answer me!”
The light turned back on. And the little girl stood alone on the pavement, looking around her in utter dismay. “Mamaaaaa!” she screamed even louder than before. Her high voice got louder and louder, until it broke down into silent, shaky
cries.

Escape Before Dawn Empty Re: Escape Before Dawn

Branches shot past gripping onto their clothes, hair, and skin. There was no light that entered the forest. The woman tried to open her mouth to scream again, but she kept either getting hit by branches. It was amazing how fast somebody could run while having a full-grown person hanging over their shoulder. Suddenly, she felt a sudden drop- he jumped. She saw the wall from a centimeter away from her face- at least two metres of a jump. Any closer to the wall and her chin would have hooked to the top, and her neck would have been broken.
The woman screamed out again, only for the man holding her to reply with a dark cackle. But, that cackle was cut short immediately. As did his run. She felt his grip on her tighten, and his shoulder (which was digging into her stomach) stiffen. Straining her neck to see why he stopped, what she saw made her heart almost skip a beat for joy.
They were a clearing in the forest. The stars glittered down at the flat land that smelled slightly of smoke- the obvious sign that they were close to the ruins of the village from the fire. It was amazing how the smell can linger for over thirty years.
The thing is, everybody in town knows about them. Even the rich side, which technically never bothers keeping contact with Old Bronze. They’re known even in the surrounding villages. That’s how popular they are. How famous. They’re considered role models, despite the lack of clothing on some of them. Why? Because they’re the Dawn Team.
A group of five stood there with the stars glaring at all seven of them. Each one of the five stood with their feet shoulder-width apart, and their arms at their sides. Each one of their eyes were staring in a stone-like way, as if they were each a separate statue.
There was a silence. The man and his prey stood frozen in the action of running, the woman draped over his shoulders simply staring at them with her mouth open.
The group was a-lined in a straight line. The two tallest were on the sides. One girl, with a boyish red cut, and another, even taller, with short, razor-cut hair. Inside of them, were two rather short girls. One with cream-like colored wavy hair that was hooked into a low side pony-tail. Another with black, choppy hair that ended jaggedly around her head. And the final, in the middle, was a girl with light brown hair pulled up in a high pony-tale that fell to her mid-back. In other words, Karen, Ann, Thalia, Erin, and Will. Only, one wouldn’t realize it. Because, from the mass of makeup stored upon each girl’s face, their disguise was amazing.
Each one wore a similar outfit- a tight short dress each one with a different cut, some with separate belts attached to the side, or with décor trimming the bottoms. Then the gloves and boots were all different. Each one had a different style beneath the skirt- black leggings, or high boots, or overly exaggerated leg-warmers that stretched over a pair of thick boots, ending in the middle with a pair of black leather pants that wringled from the boots being slipped lazily over them.
The strangest thing, the one strange thing about all these girls is, they all had a separate strand of hair that tumbled differently than the rest of their hair- almost like a gang mark.

“Let her go,” whispered the middle girl. Her eyebrows were low to her eyes, almost a glare, but then it looked so strangely calm. The side of her lip was upturned to show the ever-so-slight dimple. A soft breeze brushed the scenery. The dried grass shone in waves beneath the sky. The leaves spun around all their feet.
“Why?” barked the shocked man. “They’re my guilty pleasures, you stupid little girls. Go back to braiding each other’s hair or painting each other’s nails before I kill you all.”
They didn’t move. Simply stared at the man. He looked slightly freaked out. “I- I mean it!” he yelled. Suddenly, a gun was pointed at them.
“We don’t want to arouse a fight, sir.” Said Erin in a loud, clear voice. “We’re just telling you, let her go. Because either way, we’ll win. You’ll just end up behind the bars.”
His eyes widened even more. A few veins were visible on his bald head. Even his eyes seemed to be popping with red veins. A high, cracking laugh erupted the cool, night air. “All you girls are sticks. What do you have against me?” He pulled the trigger. A huge boom exploded in the air. Smoke drifted above his head. In amazing speed, he had lifted the air and shot a bullet into the sky.
“I have reflects.” He let the woman fall to the ground. She immediately tried to get away. She stood up and staggered towards the forest. He easily caught up to her and grabbed her arm tightly. “I have strength.” He grabbed her other wrist. “Go home.” He spun the gun around his fingers and pointed it at them. “Go on.”

Escape Before Dawn Empty Re: Escape Before Dawn

They didn’t move. Instead they shifted their weight just a bit.
“I said… GO HOME!” he shot a bullet towards them. It cracked the air again, and in the distance a flock of birds shot out of the trees.
Immediately, all of them dove out of the way. Will slid backwards against Erin and Ann.
With a wink of Will’s eye, Karen shot forwards with the others. “We have reflects too,” she said. The other girls ran around surrounding the clearing. It seems all like a game, a plan that just fit perfectly with the moment. “We have speed!” shouted Thalia. They all ran at him and suddenly he found himself against the ground with his nose hurting. “Same with the strength,” said Erin softly. Suddenly, they had him against the ground. “And, we’re smart.” Said Ann with a smile.
The way they had him against the ground in less than a minute in such a strategy-like way seriously proved that they were rather smart.
Will easily walked over to him and stood before him. “If you don’t want us to break your face even more, tell me. Where are the other girls?”
He narrowed his eyes and struggled against them. “Let- Let me go!” he yelled frantically.
“Tell us.” She snapped.
“T-They’re a bit farther in- in one of the giant nurse logs. I left them there for the bears, hopefully they’re not eaten yet.”
Will clenched her teeth tightly for a second before smiling at him. “Thank you, sir.” Immediately, she shot off into the forest.
“Hey, you, woman? Go through there, and fast. It’s closer to the village than you think. Go find some police- Stop fidgeting, you idiot- and come back. Can you manage it?”
She nodded in a shaking way, and stepped cautiously over a thorn bush as she made her way into the forest. Soon, it was only the man, and the four girls.
